Multicultural Awareness Roundtable Discussion

How does the different pieces of our cultural identities fit together to make us who we are and how we interact with the world around us?

Clinicians and researchers alike are always encouraged to work on multicultural competence. What is this competence everyone is always talking about, anyway? Multicultural competence is the awareness of the different identities, or cultures, clients or participants in research recognized as forming part of who they are. Culture consists of the values, practices, goals, attitudes and beliefs of a particular group, place or time. This list is NOT exhaustive. The takeaway from this definition is that we all have culture, whether or not we actually recognize it. It is the responsibility of mental health professionals to strive for multicultural competence and FCSG can help you get a step closer to bringing this awareness into your practice or research. :)

Join the FCSG for our FINAL roundtable discussion with Dr. Silvia Mazzula! She will be facilitating conversation about multicultural competence and having difficult discussions with clients. Interested? Details are listed below.
